SPY has a backlog of 925 emails, clogging the primary rfxjhesse@aol.com site but also the Blackberry. Most of the emails pertain to softball, but, many are spam and we are tightening the spam filter. However, we are also receiving a large volume of political material, which SPY has not published.
Yet, this election stands in importance in terms of its long-term impact on the nation with George Washington’s election, the two elections of Abraham Lincoln, FDR’s election in 1932, and, perhaps, Ronald Reagan’s election in 1980 as course-changing hallmarks. Certainly the two major party candidates indicate they will take the nation in different directions.
However, as Newsweek noted in its latest edition, the campaign of 2008 is one of the dirtiest in history – and is also noted for the many distortions of fact – by both parties and especially their surrogates.
So, SPY will not permit the electronic verbal equivalent of a Pier Six brawl. As editor of the blog, Rayburn Hesse will pose certain political questions/issues, trying to be bipartisan. Readers may comment but their replies should be on the subject posed, and contain as little vitriol as possible. We would like to limit comments to 100 words (or fewer).
